Green Valley NV senior Owen Beam and professional runner Kaitlin Gregg Goodman join DyeStat editor Doug Binder to discuss the issue of runners getting hit by vehicles. Every year, thousands of runners are hit by cars and other vehicles. A couple weeks ago, Beam was was on a training run and was struck by a car and he suffered a concussion and a cut above his eye that required 12 stitches. Beam recounts what happened to him and how his recovery is going. Goodman tore her hamstring while evading a car a couple of years ago and decided to act, starting an organization called SafeOnTheRoad.org, which seeks to bring awareness to the problem and work with local governments to make roads safer for runners and pedestrians and advocate for safer alternatives like recreational paths and trails.
