Reuben Reina - Distance Running Legend - Coach to Coach

Reuben Reina is a retired American track and field athlete who competed for Team USA at the 1992 Olympic Games in the 5000m.  known for long distance running. He represented the United States at the 1992 Summer Olympics, running the 5000 meters. 

Reina was a high school star at John Jay High School, winning the 1985 Foot Locker Cross Country Championships in the record time of 14:36. That time remains the Balboa Park course record, after most of the greatest high school athletes have run on the same course.  He then competed at the University of Arkansas under legendary coach John McDonnell, where he won back to back NCAA championships in the indoor 3000 meters. Arkansas won the indoor team title all four years Reina was with the team, in the midst of a 12 straight year title run.

As a pro runner, Reina not only competed at the Olympic Games, he also won the USA Cross Country Championships twice, in 1994 and 1996.

Reina now coaches in Fayetteville, Arkansas and the surrounding area.
